He started his banking career with British Bank of West Africa Limited [now First Bank of Nigeria Plc] in 1966. He rose through the ranks to senior management positions and retired from the bank as a Deputy General Manager in April, 1993. After the long spell in First Bank of Nigeria Plc, he took up an appointment as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in Metropolitan Merchant Bank Plc.
He relinquished the position in February 2001 and he is currently the Executive Chairman of Funding and Investment Options Limited.
